The part households rarely name is that the tax compounds. One person paying the late fee is also the person who already spent the morning managing everyone's executive function before 9am. The money and the exhaustion are the same bill, just different columns.
Impulse buying. Definitely impulse buying. I try and control it by leaving my cart sit for at least 24 hours before clicking buy. Usually by then the impulse has passed.
How about the whole thing of managing money? Isn’t that the umbrella to all of this? It’s finding a system that will help you manage/show you where it’s all going. For me personally, it’s coming to grips with the fact the monthly payment for a system will save me money and headaches later.
Yep… my brain just forgets. In the moment I hold and acknowledge something as so important and then it just gets lost. I make a reminder, write it down, whatever, and either the list gets lost or the digital notification gets lost in digital clutter.
Last week I did sit down with a trusted friend and look at my finances and that helped
One of my taxes if finding really good deals on things at thrift stores and or clearance items and then realizing I have too many of that particular item or category and then having to pass it on but then having trouble making decisions but then when I do I suddenly regret getting rid of one or a few of the items I donated. I usually don't regret most but once in awhile I had a hard time thinking and deciding and just got rid of without processing it.
One of the worst ADHD taxes I have had to pay are duplicates of car keys. So expensive and so embarrassing to need a duplicate of the duplicate in a month’s time.
Easy/useful adhd taxes are the things that subscribe and save helps me with — like socks, sunscreen, dishwasher pods. So even if I already have it NOW, these things are so often needed.
I honestly am looking forward to my bank card expiring this fall so all our subscriptions auto cancel - we can find which streaming platforms are useful and etc.

Expired produce in the fridge...
My ADHD tax is working outside of my normal working hours so I can have the appropriate amount of time to get my stuff done.

I’ve shut down lots of the taxes but impulse buying, especially makeup, still haunts me!
